Really, it's quite a dangerous thing for someone to have quite so much control over the media as Murdoch does. However, most of the problems of shameless editorialising and quite simply making things up are not exclusive to the Sun - even the broadsheets do that quite a lot. The Telegraph is particularly bad but aside from the Financial Times they're all pretty bad with that kind of thing.

There is a systematic abuse of the power that newspaper editors have in the UK - it is a very big, unspoken problem in the UK. And not just with regards to the EU either - even though a lot of complete guff is spoken about it in the press here.

The Sun is no media or Press, it is very cheap and low level entertainment, like reality TV.

A good article. The Sun's days are numbered and I'm waiting impatiently for the introduction of online charging. As amusing as the thinly-veiled xenophobia and pravdaesque misreporting may be to British readers, the sad thing is that the joke is on them and nobody else much cares. Even the Commission has decided not to waste anymore time rebutting what it rather kindly calls "euromyths".
